Despite outgaining the Ravens 428-356 yards, New England managed to put only 13 points on the scoreboard, much less than its regular-season average of 34.8. Quarterback Tom Brady led the Patriots on three scoring drives in the first half as they took a 13-7 lead. But the Ravens held New England scoreless after halftime and Flacco threw for three touchdowns. Flacco gave the Ravens a 14-13 lead with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Pitta in the third quarter. Boldin caught two touchdown passes to send the Ravens into their second Super Bowl appearance, a matchup between Ravens coach John Harbaugh and his brother, Jim, coach of the San Francisco 49ers. |
