Former Orioles No. 1 starter Jeremy Guthrie will try to avert a three-game Orioles sweep on Thursday night when he takes the mound for the Kansas City Royals, but he has already proven that sometimes the grass really is greener on the other side of the street. He didn't land well in Colorado after the deal that sent him from the Orioles to the Rockies for pitchers Jason Hammel and Matt Lindstrom last February -- going 3-9 with a 6.35 ERA with Colorado before heading to the Royals -- but he found his groove in K.C. and has now gone 17 straight starts without a loss. It would be ironic if the Orioles snapped that string, but it would not be an upset, considering the way they're playing right now.
