Orioles fans clearly came prepared for a playoff celebration today. There are homemade signs everywhere and the energy in the stands is terrific. On the home plate dugout side, the fans are giving the O’s a standing ovation every time they come off the field between innings.
It certainly hasn’t hurt that the Angels are down be two runs in the seventh inning in Texas and the Yankees are down by three in the seventh at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Long way to go, but the early returns are very promising.
The Orioles just announced the final attendance totals for the regular season at Oriole Park, barring a one-game regular season playoff against the Yankees on Thursday. They drew 41,257 for the game and 2,102,240 for the season. That’s 346,834 more than last year, or a 19.8 percent increase year over year.
