This week, we heard that Britton still has inflammation in the same throwing shoulder that landed him on the disabled list last August. Given Orioles pitchers' record of injuries, the alarms are already sounding before spring training has begun. Britton, 24, who led the Orioles in wins last season as a rookie (11-11, 4.61 ERA in 28 starts), might be the team's most promising young pitcher. Given the competition for rotation spots, extra attention might be needed to make sure the left-hander doesn't overextend himself.
