Adventure winner

The winner for this week's Reader SunShots series, "Adventure," goes to Tim Shelton for his picture titled "The Ascent." The photographer shot the image with a point-and-shoot camera as he and other Peace Corps volunteers climbed Mt. Yasur, an active volcano on the island Tanna in Vanuatu in the South Pacific. Here is a critique by The Baltimore Sun's director of photography, Robert Hamilton:

"Well, if this picture doesn't constitute adventure, I'm not sure what does. The photographer may have only had a small camera, but he made the most of it. The composition is perfect, with the spine of the volcano leading the viewer into the picture. In addition, the people give a sense of scale, an important piece of information."
