Fact: With Maryland and Rutgers joining the Big Ten, the conference now has five lacrosse-playing members, one short of the six required for an NCAA tournament automatic qualifier. Opinion: Realignment will continue to change the landscape of college lacrosse, a nonrevenue sport that is an afterthought during negotiations. Maryland is in a wait-and-see phase as the puzzle pieces are assembled. More realignment involving the Big Ten could get the league to six sooner rather than later.
