Outfield

( US Presswire / May 6, 2012 )
Manager Buck Showalter has had to push some buttons in the outfield since Nolan Reimold went on the disabled list. Endy Chavez has taken over left field for the most part, but Rule 5 acquisition Ryan Flaherty got a start there Sunday. The defense was solid enough, but the offensive contribution on the road trip was subpar. Outfielders batted just .176 (15-for-85) with three home runs, but Adam Jones (pictured) got them a one-letter upgrade with his game-winning three-run homer off Red Sox outfielder Darnell McDonald. Otherwise, the game might never have ended. |
