** Maryland announced the signings Wednesday of junior college wide receiver Deon Long and JUCO offensive lineman Silvano Altamirano.
Altamirano, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound linemen, spent two seasons at San Diego Mesa College, earning first-team All-Southern California Football Association honors this fall.
"I am very happy to have Silvano come in and be part of our offensive line at the University of Maryland," Edsall said. "He has the explosiveness, speed, pulling ability and toughness that we want from our offensive linemen."
The 6-3, 220-pound Houston was rated as the No. 55 recruit nationally at outside linebacker in the Class of 2011 and signed with Maryland.
