One of the Baltimore-area restaurant filmed for an upcoming episode of "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" has added a second location inside the White Marsh Mall.
Rodrigo Albarran has opened a second location of R&R Taqueria in the food court at the White Marsh Mall. The first location, inside an Elkridge Shell Station, opened in 2009 and caught on big time last year, earning a coveted spot Washington Post Food Critic Tom Sietsema's influential Fall Dining Guide and attracting the attention of the popular Food Network program hosted by Guy Fieri.
Part of the R&R Taqueria mystique certainly has to do with its unusual location —the taqueria operates inside the mart of a Shell Station near the junction of Route 175 and Route 1. It's the kind of set-up that, when the food is actually very good, amounts to a major "find." When the author of How Chow, an indispensable Howard County dining blog, made his first visit to R&R back in November 2009, he called it "the food discovery of my four years in Howard County.
The "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" episode featuring R&R Taqueria and other Baltimore-area restaurants is expected to air sometime in the next several months.
