As a cold front heads toward the warm, moist air that has kept things mild the past couple of days, some rumbles of thunder are possible Monday night. The system has already spawned tornado reports and severe weather to our southwest.

The chances for severe weather stretches across an area from the Gulf coast and across Florida up the Appalachians into the mid-Atlantic and coastal New England. A tornado watch is in effect for a band of storms moving across southern Alabama and Mississippi.
Rain is in the local forecast for the Baltimore area through the evening.
Last winter, one of the mildest on record, there were a handful of thunder-producing storms at BWI.
