TAX PLANNING, TAX CONTROVERSY & CORPORATE TRANSACTIONS
Marilyn Barrett specializes in tax planning, tax controversy and corporate transactions. She represents clients in many different industries, including entertainment, real estate, consumer goods and professional organizations from start-up to midmarket companies. Marilyn received her J.D. from UCLA, where she was an Associate Editor of the UCLA Law Review, and her B.S. in Accounting with highest distinction from the University of Kansas. Marilyn is a certified public accountant. Marilyn has been selected as a Super Lawyer, awarded the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell and honored with the Women of Achievement Award in Law by the Century City Chamber of Commerce. A former Chair of the Taxation Sections of the California State Bar and of the Los Angeles County Bar, she has authored more than 40 articles for legal journals and is the contributing editor on Federal Taxation for the CEB California Business Law Reporter. Active in charitable organizations, Marilyn has been honored by the Saban Community Clinic, the Los Angeles Commission County Commission For Women, and the Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women (now known as Peace Over Violence).
