Holidays on Ice

Back by popular demand, The Cosmopolitan has again transformed its pool into a winter wonderland with the reopening of The Ice Rink at The Boulevard Pool.

This year, the venue features an expanded skating area with gleaming real ice and flickering fire pits. Treats at The Ice Rink include s’mores for the kids and warm cocktails for the grown-ups. One toasty offering is the Campfire Delight, made with Van Gogh Dutch chocolate vodka, crème de cacao, RumChata cream liqueur and marshmallow.

“The real ice, the authenticity of that experience, makes it special, social and a great option for a day trip with the family or a night out with friends,” said Lisa Marchese, the hotel’s chief marketing officer. The outdoor hotspot is also warming things up with several theme nights.

Mondays are Date Skate Night, complete with classic holiday movies, such as “A Christmas Story” and “Polar Express” on Dec. 2 and “Elf” and “White Christmas” on Dec. 23, displayed on the property’s 65-foot screen.

Want to experience a nightclub but on skates? Industry Skate on the Strip Wednesdays showcases music spun by resident deejay Missy Joy, while Throwback Thursdays by Marquee lets skaters channel their roller rink days with music from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.

For guests who want to ring in 2014 in a truly unique setting, The Ice Rink will offer a live stream of the Bruno Mars concert happening at the hotel’s new performance space, The Chelsea. The New Year’s party at The Ice Rink will be accompanied by an open bar, seasonal bites and views of the midnight fireworks. Tickets start at $169 per person on Ticketmaster.

“It’s a festive experience that allows you to feel all the excitement of the Las Vegas Strip while at the same time offering a bit of respite from the crowds,” Marchese told the Vegas Guide.

The Ice Rink is open until Jan. 5. Admission is $10 for Nevada residents and $15 for nonresidents. Visitors are allowed to bring their own skates or rent a pair for $5, with skate aids available for $10. For more information, visit www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com.
