One of Baltimore's newest destinations for experimental and conceptual work, Guest Spot (pictured) was started by New York-to-Baltimore transplant Rod Malin and hosts a monthly Sunday Brunch closing reception. The current exhibit, "Narrative Liminal," is up through Oct. 15 and features sculpture and paintings by Baltimore's John Bohl and New York artist Mike Peter Smith. After Sunday brunch, head up to Hampden for the Town Square Open Mic at Minas Boutique and Gallery. Held at 4 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month, anyone with a poem, song, tall tale, or sleight-of-hand trick is encouraged to participate. Check out the visual art exhibit in the gallery while you're there -- Minas shows "folk contemporary" art: New works by local artists with a folksy slant. The fall exhibit, "Fragments from Utilis Planta: Scott Philip Goergens New Paintings," which starts Sept. 24, presents imaginary botanical images.
