St. Patrick's Day

( Amy Davis, Baltimore Sun photo ) Winter's final holiday may also be its most celebratory, as Irish wannabes throughout Baltimore dig out their green outfits, scratch their heads over just what "Erin go bragh" means ("Ireland forever," FYI) and go out with the sole purpose of imbibing as much green beer as possible. Around here, the partying begins a week early, on March 10, with Baltimore's 58th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Washington Monument and winding its way south. When the day itself arrives a week later, you're on your own -- but we have a sneaking suspicion your local pub may be offering a drink special or two. |
