District 7620 of Rotary International will host the Rotary Foundation Seminar and Super Summit from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Loews
Topics of the seminar will include basic education and literacy, peace and conflict resolution, maternal and child health, water and sanitation, economic and community development, and disease prevention and treatment.
Keynote speaker is Joe Mulkerrin, Regional Rotary Foundation Chair, who will lead a workshop titled "Future Vision." Peter Kyle, a former Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar and member of the Rotary Club of Capitol Hill in Washington, will discuss the Rotary Peace Scholars program and provide an update on their activities during a panel discussion. Carl Schneider, a member of the Rotary Club of Annapolis, will introduce the District Scholars from Italy and Japan. Fee is $25 and includes breakfast.

Children's Theatre of Annapolis will hold auditions for its fall production of "A Tribute to Ronald Dahl: The Witches." Tuition is waived for those 60 and older, but there is an administrative fee of $80. This one-time fee covers all courses taken for the semester. Seniors 55-59 must pay the $80 administrative fee plus $40 per course. A tuition waiver form must be certified by the Social Security Administration to exempt permanently disabled seniors from paying the $40 fee per course, but they will still be responsible for the $80 administrative fee. Some classes may have an additional fee for supplies or textbooks.

Registration is under way for the 2011 Maryland Senior Olympics being held through Nov. 6 at various locations statewide. The games have 21 sports with more than 100 events; they include volleyball, basketball, track and field events, bowling, table tennis, archery, horseshoes, racquetball, badminton, billiards, lawn bowling, softball, tennis and swimming.
Cost to participate in one event is $20, and $5 for each additional one. Registration deadline is 30 days before your first event's start date.

Foreign exchange student
The Rotary Club of Annapolis seeks candidates for its International Outbound High School Foreign Exchange Student program. The opening is for a nine-month period in the fall of 2012. The student must be between ages 15 and 181/2 at departure for overseas. Interviews will be held Sept. 6-8. The club will consider 10 candidates on a first-come, first-served basis. Further potential interviews, including parents, will be held in early November in York, Pa. Selections will be announced later in November during an overnight outing in York, which includes meeting current exchange students. "Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake," a themed event for children, returns for another season in Annapolis harbor. The Annapolis Police Department is sponsoring a bicycle registration program. The owner's name, address, phone number and the bike's serial number, manufacturer and color are recorded in the department's database. Registration is available to any Annapolis resident. The Annapolis Police Department Law Enforcement Explorer Post 199 is accepting applications. Law Enforcement Exploring is a program for those who have completed eighth grade and are 14 to 20 years old. The program offers information on career activities.
