Open house Anne Arundel Community College offers a free open house for a preview of its 15 fall Peer Learning Partnership courses beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Room 100 of the Center for Applied Learning and Technology on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. Open to ages 16 and older, the program has no academic requirements for membership, but participants must join the program to register for PLP classes and participate in discussion groups and other events. Demolition derby The Anne Arundel County Fair presents a "Nationwide Demolition Derby" at 7 p.m. (gates open at 4 p.m.), at the fairgrounds, 1450 Generals Highway in Crownsville. Festival The annual Strawberry Festival sponsored by the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America takes place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 7606 Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie. Festival The Ann Arrundell County Historical Society will hold its annual Strawberry Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the historic Benson-Hammond House, 7101 Aviation Blvd. Festival celebrates the agricultural history of Anne Arundel County in the production of strawberries for local and national markets. Softball The Bowie Baysox and the Washington Redskins Alumni Association presents the inaugural "Battle of the Beltways," a charity softball game being held at 2:05 p.m. Saturday, June 9, between Washington Redskins alumni and Baltimore Colts/Baltimore Ravens alumni at Prince George's Stadium. Organizations benefiting from this event include: the GEICO Brave Dave Open, Redskins Alumni Youth Charities, Literacy for a Lifetime, Warriors Aviation, Kids in Need Distributors and Tommy Joe's Jon Lowe Foundation. 'Eastport Luau' Event will be held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 30 (rain or shine) at the Eastport Democratic Club, 525 State St. in Annapolis. Refreshments available for purchase include slow-roasted whole pig smoked in cherry wood and served with barbecue sauce, Jamaican jerk chicken and five-bean bourbon baked beans. Crab feast The Rotary Club of Annapolis will hold its annual crab feast from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 3 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. The all-you-can-eat-and-drink affair includes large and No. 1 male crabs, Maryland crab soup, corn on the cob, beef barbecue, hot dogs, draft beer, sodas and water. There will also be a bake sale and cake raffle. Tickets are $60, $20 for children ages 3 to 12, and free for those younger than 3. Tickets will be available for $75 at the stadium box office starting at 4 p.m. on the day of the event.
