ALS fundraiser More than 55 regional artists will offer handcrafted jewelry, children's clothing and accessories, pottery, paintings and more, at the ALS Artisan Boutique's fundraiser being held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sheraton Annapolis Hotel, 173 Jennifer Road. The event, which will benefit the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is free and open to the public. Meeting The Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture will hold a public meeting at 10 a.m. at the Wiley H. Bates Legacy Center, 1101 Smithville St. in Annapolis. During the meeting, Ja-Zette Marshburn, recipient of the commission's Walter Hill Fellowship in Archives, will give a presentation covering the history of the commission from 1969 to 1990. 'Holiday by the Bay' concert The Naval Academy Band will perform its annual concert at 7:30 p.m. at Mahan Hall, 106 Maryland Ave., at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. The program includes Victor Herbert's "March of the Toys," and Russian Christmas music by Alfred Reed. Musician 1st Class Colin Renick will be featured on bass saxophone, performing "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." The Next Wave Jazz Ensemble will perform holiday favorites, including Harry Connick Jr.'s version of "Sleigh Ride." Political movie Common Cause and the Anne Arundel League of Women Voters will sponsor a showing of "Gerrymandering" at 7 p.m. at the Annapolis Area Library, 1410 West St. The documentary explains how the two major political parties use census figures every 10 years for purposes of redistricting state legislative and congressional districts in each state. Holiday event The Sons of the Severn Chorus will present an afternoon of music, storytelling, and celebration beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Loews Annapolis Hotel, 126 West St. The concert will feature the Sons of the Severn chorus, chapter quartets, and a special reunion performance by Maryland Express. Concert The Annapolis Youth Chorus will perform a holiday concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at St. Anne's Church on Church Circle in Annapolis. The treble-voiced choir, under the direction of Jill Woodward, will perform a variety of traditional holiday carols as well as choral works. Pops concert The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Jose-Luis Novo, performs its Lexus Holiday Pops concert, "Simply Sinatra Christmas," at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, 801 Chase St. in Annapolis. The show will feature Steve Lippia performing some of the most well-known Frank Sinatra songs, as well as a variety of popular Christmas songs. Tickets are $45, $10 for students.
