It's pretty impressive being 18 and headlining a show at Rams Head Live. But Maddie Freeman, one of the three members of the band Say Chance, is no stranger to performing for a big crowd.
For about a year and a half, the Towson resident has been performing with her own band, which includes fellow singer Taylor Broom, 18, and guitarist Kelly Rosenthal, 20. But the songwriting, guitar-playing trio got their start when Kelly discovered the other two on Youtube in 2010. While Say Chance has been working on their first full-length album, they have opened for performers such as Delta Rae, Dashboard Confessional, Augustana, and Sara Bareilles. b caught up with Maddie to talk about her upcoming show at Ram's Head Live on Saturday, #YOLO, and her obsession with "Friends."
Worst pet peeve? I really hate being late or when other people are late.
Your worst habit? I tend to be pretty messy. I'm organized, but you would think I lived out if my car if you saw the trunk.
Last concert/gig you went to? Coldplay in D.C.! They completely blew me away.
What songs are you hating/loving right now? I'm loving "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons or "Houdini" by Foster the People. It gets me so pumped!
Favorite/least favorite thing about performing on stage? The best thing is being able to share music and connect with everyone in the room. The worst part is how hot it gets up there! I hate sweating especially when everyone is watching.
Favorite venue Say Chance has played? Probably the 9:30 Club. They have a huge stage, great crowds and they give you chocolate cupcakes in your dressing room!
Favorite and most loathed fashion statements? I've liked color blocking and sheer fabrics lately. The one thing I really loathe is Crocs. Don't wear them if you're over the age of 10.
Trend that has exceeded its natural lifespan? #YOLO. I guess people became obsessed with saying this fairly recently, but it's always been annoying.
Favorite thing about Baltimore? I really like the energy this city has, but mostly I looooooove the Ravens.
