In the midst of the drama, Chuck slips away to talk to the daughter of the breeder that his father bought horses from. But before Chuck can find out anything useful, Bart appears and tells him that the breeder is dead. Chuck is ready to give up and leave, but before getting in the car Blair is able to convince the daughter that Bart is not the gentleman he seems to be. The girl later shows up at The Empire and tells Chuck that her father, a Sudanese National, was in the oil business. After putting pieces of the story together, Chuck realizes that Bart was using horses to cover up buying oil, which is a federal crime. He has no evidence, of course, but his "a-ha!" look is very convincing.
