"Splendor in the Grass" (1961)

Man, small-town Kansas is really sexually repressed in the 1920s. A tendency toward manic-depression doesn't help our tortured heroine (Natalie Wood). LESSONS LEARNED: Sex -- awkward to talk about with your parents in any decade; if Warren Beatty goes to your high school, you will want to have sex with him; "no nice girl" has sexual desires, so apparently every mother is a bad girl. Also, sex is complicated.
