I support The Sun's position on Dr. Ben Carson ("The price of free speech," April 13). Dr. Carson was accorded his First Amendment right to freely express his views on marriage equality — and those outraged by the hurtful and insulting comments he made also have a right to express theirs. Not only that, Hopkins students have a right to a say in who addresses their commencement.
What I find most disturbing about Dr. Carson's views is that they generally reflect right-wing Republican ideas.
Given that it has been Democrats who have supported civil rights, voting rights and affirmative action ever since the South went from solidly Democratic to solidly Republican after the passage of the 1965
