Enough is enough. Partisan politics in Maryland has hit an all-time low. As Maryland is hurling headlong into financial ruin, the working, legal resident taxpayers are being taxed to the hilt. Both parties have their collective heads in the sand or at least their party leaders can't see the reality we face every day. Democrats and Republicans refuse to budge or do the dance of moderation only to swing back when the party leaders pull their puppet strings in time to cast their pre-arranged vote in a well orchestrated sham for television.
The latest event was the vote in the special session to override the already-approved state budget. Republicans held firm, Democrats held firm, and those Democrats who voted to support the original budget obeyed their puppet masters and recanted their original vote to the other side as previously arranged. As House Speaker Michael Bush revealed on local news, leadership called everyone and got the votes they needed.
So, rather than make cuts of programs, Gov.Martin O'Malleyand his boys play out the scripted farce and pass their budget.
This shows the people of Maryland the reality of our elected officials and how oblivious to plight of the working class they are. They are bought and paid for by special interests; they don't have the ability to think for themselves; and they don't believe that the people they represent will reelect them without their party's support.
Maryland politicians are, as a group, sickening. They represent something other than the will of the people. They should be ashamed, but to be ashamed, you have to have self-respect. While a few do, the leadership and majority do not.
