The news: Paul Schurick (right), a former aide to ex-Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., was convicted by a Baltimore jury for fraud in the case of a 2010 election night robocall that urged voters to "relax," stay home and watch the returns on TV. Our take: Mr. Schurick has a long career of service to the state, and it is sad to see it end this way. At the same time, the call, which was targeted to African-American households, was inexcusable. One of the jurors put it best: Mr. Schurick may be a good guy, but he did a bad thing.
