Officials claim that Maryland never really agreed to the exit fee, that it is excessive, and that they want to negotiate a lower fee. If the ACC wants to collect the entire fee it will have to sue the state.
I wonder how this would work for students at UM. Could a student claim the tuition fee is excessive, that they never really agreed to pay it in the first place, and that they want to renegotiate it to something lower? And could the students then force the University of Maryland to sue them in order to collect?
