Annapolis Police arrested a 30-year-old Pasadena man Jan. 10 for a hit-run-accident that seriously injured a bicyclist in August.
Jason Ryan Bowen of Colchester Court was charged with failure to immediately stop his vehicle at the scene of accident involving bodily injury, failure to provide an ID and license, reckless driving, negligent driving and failure to control speed to avoid collision, police said Friday. Bowen also failed to exercise due care to avoid a pedestrian collision.
Bowen was released on a $100,000 bond.
Manuel Minche, 20, was seriously injured when he was struck from behind during the Aug. 23 collision on the 1300 block of Forest Drive and flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.
Police used the description by witnesses of the vehicle fleeing the scene coupled with evidence from the scene, including a passenger mirror and blue painter's tape, to trace the 2001 Dodge van back to Bowen.
The accident was part of an increasing number in Anne Arundel County, which saw more pedestrians killed from 2006 to 2010. Nine were killed in 2006, compared to 12 in 2010.
