Baltimore man arrested on child porn charges

A 21-year-old Baltimore man was arrested and charged Thursday with possessing and distributing child pornography, according to Maryland State Police.

Jason Barron, of the 300 block of South Baylis Street, now faces 30 years in prison and $55,000 in fines, police said.

Barron was identified after a state trooper on the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force identified a computer offering pornographic videos of children to others on the Internet, and then linked the computer to him, police said.

State police raided Barron's home early Thursday morning and seized several computers and multiple "data storage devices" that a preliminary analysis showed held child pornography, police said.

Barron was charged Thursday with two counts of possessing child pornography and two counts of distributing it, police said.

He could face more charges once a full forensic analysis of the computers and storage devices from his home is conducted, police said.
