A man who was shot in the chest Monday night was the ninth person shot in Baltimore since Friday afternoon, according to police. Two of the victims died.
The latest incident occurred Monday about 8:30 p.m. on Imla Street in the city's Southeastern District, according to a Tweet from Baltimore Police. Few details on the shooting were immediately available last night, said police spokesman Anthony Smith.

Police said officers responding to calls for gunshots found the victim near Bayard Street, and that paramedics treated him at the scene. The victim declined hospital treatment; police said they know of no motive or suspect in the case.
The victim was one of several in the city since Friday afternoon, when a 54-year-old man was shot and killed in the 2300 block of E. Chase St. A man who said he witnessed the shooting described the wounded victim as "crying and begging" as the gunman shot him several more times.

Police did not have a motive; court records show the victim has been arrested at least once, in 2009, and charged with assault and using a dangerous weapon with intent to injure. Prosecutors put both charges on the inactive docket.
The weekend's second fatal shooting occurred about 11:05 p.m. in the 3500 block of W. Belvedere Ave., where a 25-year-old man was shot several times and taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:38 p.m.
Police on Monday had no further details on the shooting and did not release the victim's name because his relatives had not yet been notified.
Three more people were shot and wounded Friday and Saturday — at 8:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of W. Lafayette Ave.; at 10:19 p.m. in the 2300 block of E. Belvedere Ave. and at 3 a.m. in the 4100 block of Boarman Ave.
On Sunday, authorities said three more people were shot and wounded, including during a domestic dispute in which police said a woman shot her boyfriend about 12:15 p.m. in the 3900 block of Benzinger Road, in Southwest Baltimore. A 16-year-old was shot about 2:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Cummings Court in Upton.
Police said another incident that initially was reported as a shooting has now been classified as an assault. That occurred Sunday about 3:20 p.m. when a man walked into Good Samaritan Hospital.
Police said they made an arrest in one of the shootings, the domestic incident, charging a 39-year-old woman with attempted murder and assault.
