April 24, 1758: The 30 seconds of shaking in
1811-1812: Series of quakes centered in New Madrid, Mo., were felt in Maryland and much of the East.
Aug. 31, 1886: The great quake in Charleston, S.C., was felt in
May 31, 1897: A quake centered in southwestern Virginia, was felt in Baltimore, Southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore.
Nov. 1, 1935: A 6.2-quake in northeastern Ontario was felt from
Sept. 4, 1944: A quake in the St. Lawrence River Valley was felt in Baltimore andWestminster.
