Anne Arundel police said they have arrested two males, one of them a juvenile, in connection with a hit-and-run accident, a robbery and an attempted carjacking near Route 100 in Hanover on Saturday afternoon.
Police said they responded to a hit-and-run accident near Arundel Mills Boulevard., near the entrance ramp of Route 100 West. Officers found that Gregory Allen Lassiter, 19, of Baltimore, was the driver and a 15-year-old from Baltimore was the passenger of a 2007 Chevrolet that had been stolen, police said.
Police said the suspects crashed the Chevrolet into the rear of a 2010 Toyota, which was driven by a 39-year-old man. The suspects then fled on foot, police said. The Toyota's driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, police said.
Police said the two suspects jumped into another vehicle, which was driven by a woman. Police said Lassiter and the juvenile demanded that she take them to the nearest 7-Eleven store, but she put her vehicle into park.
At that point, an off-duty officer apprehended the two and detained them until on-duty officers arrived, police said.
Police said that in addition to stealing an acquaintance's 2007 Chevrolet, Lassiter stole an ATM card from the acquaintance and withdrew money from her bank account.
In addition, police said, Lassiter was in possession of a check belonging to the acquaintance's roommate. Police said a small amount of marijuana was discovered in the vehicle and that Lassiter was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the incident.
Lassiter faces several charges, including attempted carjacking, police said. The juvenile also has been charged with attempted carjacking, police said. They were arrested and charged at the western police district in Anne Arundel County.
