Francis Joseph McNerney III, a graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School where he was known as the Fighting Gael mascot, died Dec. 21 at the
Affectionately known as "Frankie," Mr. McNerney, a twin, was born in Baltimore and raised in Northeast Baltimore and Catonsville, where he attended area Catholic schools. He graduated from Mount St. Joseph in 2008.

Mr. McNerney was inducted into the Free Masons Fraternity, the Liberty-Pickering No. 219 Lodge of the Masonic Order, where his family said he obtained his first degree and was widely respected.
He loved baseball and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles, his family said, and the Orioles' winning season and playoff run made his most recent hospital stays more bearable. His sister said that Mr. McNerney's room became the hub for the University of Maryland nurses and staff to check on the latest in Orioles news and player statistics.
A memorial service will be held Friday at Dempsey's Brew Pub in the B&O warehouse at
In addition to his sister of Mount Vernon, Mr. McNerney is survived by his parents, Anne McNerney of Canton and Frank McNerney of Catonsville; and three other sisters, Bree Anne of Fells Point, Kaitlyn of Canton and Lindsey McNerney of Boston.
