Mary Lee Davis, a retired secretary and former
The former Mary Lee Brown was born and raised in Rivesville, W.Va., where she also graduated from high school.
In 1949, she married John Walter Davis, and the couple moved to Dundalk when her husband went to work at
Mrs. Davis worked as a secretary in Bethlehem's public relations department for many years, and spent the last decade working for McLean Contracting Co. in Curtis Bay, until retiring in 1996.
While raising her children, Mrs. Davis was a part-time sales associate at the old Huztler's department store at Eastpoint Mall, and for a Dundalk lawyer.
While living in Dundalk, she was an active member of Woolford Baptist Church where she was a member of its choir.
During the 1960s and 1970s, she performed with the Spotlighters,
Mrs. Davis was divorced in 1981 and moved to Ocean City in 1996. Since 1997, she and her companion of 14 years, Vincent J. Pace, have lived in Clearwater.
She was an active member of Friendship United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir and took communion to home-bound parishioners.
"Never one to let the grass grow under her feet, she moved several times after her divorce," said her daughter, Kathy Capecci of Finksburg.
"Her children always told relatives never to put Mary Lee's address in ink, because a move was seldom permanent," her daughter said. "She actually kept a written record of all of her addresses, all 11 of them. She was a vibrant person with an infectious laugh."
Mrs. Davis was an avid gardener.
"She was out watering her plants the day before she died," said Mrs. Capecci.
