Born Olive Ann Dillard in Sharon, Pa., she was the daughter of Thomas Dillard, a steel worker, and Elizabeth Dillard, a homemaker. She attended public schools in Sharon and studied at
She moved to Baltimore in 1947 and worked as an analyst at the Health Care Finance Administration in Woodlawn, retiring in 1992 after 31 years.
In 1948, she joined the Order of the Eastern Star and belonged to Baltimore's Annie S. Banks Chapter. Among her many offices, she was the 2000 State Grand Loyal Lady Ruler.
"She ascended to the head of every Eastern Star house in Maryland she could be in," said her daughter, Karen Patricia Evans of Baltimore. "She loved her Masonic work."
She enjoyed knitting and reading. She had traveled to Africa, Europe, Hong Kong and the Holy Land.
Her husband of nearly 41 years, George Witt Evans Jr., a mail carrier and photographer, died in 1988.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Episcopal Church, 929 N. Arlington Ave., where she was a member of St. Monica's Guild and supported the Expressions of Faith Gospel Choir.
There are no other immediate survivors. A son, George Witt Evans III, died in 1966.
