He was transferred to Baltimore in 1964, when much of the company's shipbuilding operations were relocated to Sparrows Point.
Mr. Danielson was promoted to chief of basic ship design in 1968, and three years later, was appointed to assistant manager, ship development and sales, and acted as liaison between the
He was a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and had served on numerous committees of the American Bureau of Shipping. He also had been a member of the Coast Guard's Chemical Transportation Industry Advisory Committee.
He retired in 1981.
A longtime Timonium resident who had lived at Mercy Ridge retirement community since 2005, he enjoyed the outdoors.
He had hiked segments of the
Mr. Danielson was a member of the Havenwood Presbyterian Church in Timonium.
Plans for services are incomplete.
In addition to his son, Mr. Danielson is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Doris Lucie; another son, Robert James Danielson of Canaan, N.H.; a daughter, Janet Claire Danzingerof Plymouth, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
