State: Towson men fall to Northeastern, 70-51

Towson senior Robert Nwankwo posted his 12th double double of the season, 19 points and 13 rebounds, but the visiting Tigers fell, 70-51, to Northeastern on Tuesday night.

The Huskies (12-14, 8-8 Colonial Athletic Association) made nine 3-pointers, eight by Joe Smith (20 points), and ended a four-game losing streak. The Tigers fell to 1-27, 1-15.

Towson outrebounded Northeastern 30-29, but the Huskies scored 29 points off 19 Tigers turnovers. Northeastern made 21 of 24 free throws, and Towson went 10-for-15.

Women

Johns Hopkins 68, Franklin & Marshall 40: Chantel Mattiola scored 16 points and the host Blue Jays (21-3, 16-3 Centennial Conference) won the regular-season conference title for the second year in a row. The Diplomats (17-7, 14-5) trailed 33-17 at the half.
