The Navy women's team, led by Jade Geif with 20 points, survived a Patriot League basketball quarterfinal by beating visiting Lafayette, 59-55 in overtime Thursday night.
Both halves ended in ties, 29-all and 58-all. Geif made two free throws with 32 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. Lafayette's Maddie Peabody missed a jumper from the left corner with 3.2 seconds left.
In the overtime, Alix Membreno scored four of her team's 11 points and the Mids (19-11) held the Leopards (11-19) to seven points. The Leopards' Madeline Fahan made a jumper with 20 seconds left to end the scoring.
Navy hosts Bucknell in Monday's semifinal at 7 p.m.
Katie Sheahin scored a team-high 13 points, while sophomore Kara Marshall had 11 for the Greyhounds.
With less than 15 seconds remaining in the second half, Loyola went up by one, 49-48, on a jumper. Seconds later Manhattan's Monica Roeder scored her own jumper to give the Jaspers the one-point lead to advance to the quarterfinals.
Jasmine Grice led the Rattlers with 19 points.
Shawnee Sweeney led four Hawks in double figures with 12 points, connecting on four 3-pointers. UMES' Alexis Udoji tied the game, 39-39, with a layup with 16 seconds left in regulation.
Morgan State 78, Florida A&M 67: Justin Black led all Bears with 20 points as host Morgan State (14-14, 10-6 MEAC) defeated the Rattlers (8-22, 5-11) to win its fifth straight.
Savannah State 71, UMES 54: Deven Williams led the Tigers (18-13, 11-5 MEAC) with 20 points to defeat the visiting Hawks (2-25, 2-14).
