Loyola tops Mount St. Mary's, 65-54, rises to 8-1

Shane Walker and Robert Olson combined for 39 points, and visiting Loyola extended its school-record start to 8-1 with a 65-54 victory at Mount St. Mary's on Saturday in the 167th meeting of the rivalry.

Olson scored 16 of his season-high 19 after the break, and Walker had 12 of his season-best 20 in the second half. Mount St. Mary's fell to 1-8.

No. 10 Missouri 84, Navy 59: Marcus Denmon scored 22 as the host Tigers (9-0) beat the Midshipmen (3-8).

Ricardo Ratliffe made six of nine shots and added 14 points for Missouri.

J.J. Avila scored 26 points for Navy. The Midshipmen took a 5-0 lead at the outset but trailed 45-26 by halftime.

UMES 95, Marist 69: Ishaq Pitt had 18 points and Hillary Haley had 17 to power the host Hawks (3-8, 0-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) past the Flyers (1-8, 0-1).

Frostburg State 82, York 73: The host Bobcats (4-4, 3-1 Capital Athletic Conference) shot a season-high 50 percent to beat the Spartans (5-4, 2-2).

Washington College 81, McDaniel 63: The host Shoremen (5-3, 3-2 Centennial Conference) had four players score in double digits to beat the Green Terror (3-5, 1-3).

Salisbury 53, Stevenson 51: Mike Atkins made a jumper from the right wing at the buzzer to lift the host Sea Gulls (6-3, 1-2 CAC) over the Mustangs (2-6, 0-3).

St. Mary's 72, Hood 70: The Seahawks (7-2, 3-0 CAC) withstood a second-half rally by the Blazers (4-4, 1-3).

Syracuse 56, Coppin State 50: Jeanine Manley scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but the host Orange (7-3) held off the Eagles (2-7).

Towson 59, Saint Francis (Pa.) 53: Krystal Parnell scored 16 points to lead the visiting Tigers (7-2) past the Red Flash (4-4) for their third straight win.

Mount St. Mary's 59, Loyola 54: Katie Sheahin scored 19, but the Greyhounds (3-5) fell to the Mountaineers (5-4).

Hampton 75, UMBC 47: The visiting Retrievers (5-5) led 9-8 before the Pirates (7-1) went on an 18-2 run and took control.

Shepherd 65, Bowie State 54: Four of five starters scored in double figures, but the visiting Bulldogs (0-6) lost to the Rams (5-3).

McDaniel 71, Bryn Mawr 38: The Green Terror (6-3, 4-2) got points from all 15 players to beat the Owls (0-7, 0-5 Centennial).

York 64, Frostburg State 48: The host Bobcats (3-6, 1-3 CAC) shot 25.9 percent from the field in the first half and fell to the Spartans (8-1, 4-0).

Washington College 63, Goucher 48: Kelly Mitchell and Erin Fitzgerald both had career highs in scoring to pace the host Shorewomen (3-4) past the Gophers (1-7).

Salisbury 66, Stevenson 57: Josie Hildebrand had 14 points to lead the host Sea Gulls (5-3, 3-0 CAC) past the Mustangs (4-5, 0-3).

St. Mary's 70, Hood 41: Joanna Murray (Franklin) scored 16 in leading the visiting Seahawks (3-6, 2-1 CAC) past the Blazers (1-8, 0-4).
