Deal of the week

Travelers looking for fall and winter airfare deals don't have to look very far. Airlines are promoting savings on flights through the end of the holiday season.

Vision Airlines, a new low-cost carrier making its debut at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, is offering introductory one-way fares of $29 on nonstop flights from Baltimore to Grand Bahama Island when you book a three-night stay for two.

The airline is a prominent charter carrier that offers commercial service in Florida and other cities in the South. Vision will begin service at BWI on Nov. 3, with flights to the Bahamas on Sundays and Thursdays.

The three-night package for two must be booked at one of 10 participating hotels on Grand Bahama Island, including Grand Lucayan, Ocean Reef Resort and Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach. Packages must be booked by Nov. 2 and travel must be completed by Dec. 19. The $29 fares do not include taxes and fees.

For more information, go to visionairlines.com or call 877-359-2538.

Southwest Airlines is also offering a deal on holiday airfares for travel from Dec. 13 to Jan. 5. And while there are exclusions, there are not nearly as many as you might expect for a peak travel period. Blackout dates are Dec. 23, Dec. 26, Dec. 30 and Jan. 2.

One-way fares from Baltimore range from $49 to Boston to $199 for a trip to San Francisco. The sale is only for this weekend — it ends Monday at 11:59 p.m.

To top off the fun, AirTran has also lowered some of its fares to match the Southwest sale.
