First Look: BMW K 1600 GTL Exclusive

Adding four-star luxury to two-wheel motoring, BMW has published photographs and specifications for its updated K 1600 GTL Exclusive.

And what luxury!

Like its predecessors, the 2014 model offers abundant pulling power, from an inline six-cylinder engine putting out a published 160 horsepower, which it spreads smoothly over the road via ABS braking, traction control, electronically adjustable suspension and a variety of riding modes.

But it also features heated grips, keyless ignition, an anti-theft alarm system, improved audio reception, generous storage areas, communications capacity that includes satellite radio, and a passenger seat with armrests and a heated backrest.

Plus good looks and traditional BMW quality engineering, and plenty of options and add-ons, including a matched set of color-coordinated his-and-hers Schuberth C3 Pro helmets.

Cycle World Magazine named the 2013 version, which has an MSRP of $23,200, its #1 best touring bike of the year.

The basic 1600 GTL model for 2014 starts at $23,650. The “Exclusive” part will cost a little extra.
