Triumph shows off classic 2014 motorcycle lineup

Share

Triumph Motorcycles has taken the wraps off its 2014 model lineup and ... they’re just gorgeous.

The company calls them “updated classics,” and it’s impossible to disagree. Promoted in a Tuesday release are stats and images for new versions of the Bonneville, Thruxton and Scrambler -- tapping the deep roots of the Leicestershire motorcycle company, which began manufacturing two-wheelers in 1902.

The new Bonneville is built a little lower, with new exhaust and new color schemes -- and engine cooling fins that are a throwback to the 1960s. There’s also a rear grab rail, a holdover from the day when the English bikes all featured a heavy center stand that required a sturdy rear hand hold.

The new lineup also features a Bonneville T100 and Bonneville Special Edition.

The cafe-style Thruxton includes adjustable rear suspension and some new color patterns, and also has the stylish grab rail.

The Scrambler features elements like a bash plate -- no, you’re probably not going to take this into the desert, but it looks good -- and a cool embossed Triumph logo on the seat. There’s also a really sexy twist to the upswept exhaust pipes.

Each of the three new machines features the company’s 865cc twin-cylinder power plant. Prices range from $7,899 for the basic Bonneville up to $9,799 for the top of the line Bonneville T100.
