From Bloomberg News

Walt Disney Co. said Thursday it has acquired Warren Spector’s Junction Point Studios as it expands its game-publishing business. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.

Junction Point was added to the Burbank-based company’s Disney Interactive Studios unit. Junction Point, based in Austin, Texas, will create games based on Disney characters, Disney said.

Chief Executive Robert Iger is moving the interactive unit toward game publishing and away from licensing in a bid to capitalize on Disney’s brands. In the last five years, the company has bought the Avalanche Software, Fall Line Studio, Propaganda Games and Climax Racing game developers.

Spector, who has designed and produced video games for more than 16 years, established Junction Point in 2005.

His credits include “Deus Ex,” “Thief” and “Ultima Underworld I.”
