Blum, Shapiro & Co., the West Hartford-based accounting and consulting firm, is leasing larger quarters in Fairfield County to accommodate anticipated growth in the next three years that could more than double the firm's employment in southeastern Connecticut
Blum Shapiro is consolidating offices in Shelton and Southport into a new location in Shelton after acquiring Nishball, Carp, Niedermeier, Pacowta & Co. of Shelton. The firm has leased 22,000 square feet at 2 Enterprise Drive, 6,000 square feet larger than the two other offices combined.
The firm also has an option on another 18,000 square feet.
The combined Fairfield County offices will employ 75, including 12 partners. The firm expects to employ 200 in Shelton by 2012. Currently, Blum Shapiro employs a total of 300, including 39 partners.
Tom DeVitto, the firm's chief marketing officer, said Blum Shapiro sees opportunities to attract new clients in Fairfield County in its core middle-market customer base of companies with annual revenues of $20 million to $150 million.
DeVitto said Blum Shapiro, the largest Connecticut-based regional accounting firm, can provide services that smaller accounting firms can't, and is a local, lower-cost, alternative to the larger firms.
