Frederick, Seibert and Associates Inc.
Doug Hutzell, of Frederick, Seibert and Associates Inc. in Hagerstown, recently was named a Hero of Conservation by Field & Stream magazine.
The award is for those who spend their time working to create, improve or restore fish and wildlife or habitat. They are dedicated to the spirit of conservation volunteerism; are members of conservation organizations involved with efforts to benefit a particular species or area; or individuals who take it upon themselves to improve habitat for wildlife.
Hutzell has been involved for many years with environmental issues. As a member of national and local organizations such as Trout Unlimited, Federation of Fly Fishers, Beaver Creek Watershed Association, Antietam Fly Anglers and Seneca Valley Trout Unlimited, he has spent countless hours working to improve water quality and to establish a wild trout fishery on Beaver Creek in Washington County.
Hutzell worked previously for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and the Maryland Department of the Environment, Water Management Administration, retiring in 2006. He then worked as senior project manager of the mid-Atlantic Division of Environmental Services Inc.
He currently heads the Environmental Division at Frederick, Seibert and Associates.
