Western Digital Corporation announced John Coyne will become chief executive officer in January. Arthur M. Coppola, president and CEO of The Macerich Company was elected NAREIT chair. Yossef Aelony, MD, FCCP s one of 10 national and international recipients of The CHEST Foundation’s Humanitarian Recognition Awards. Health Benchmarks Inc. named Zima Hartz senior management consultant.

Lake Forest-based Western Digital Corporation (NYSE:WDC) announced John Coyne will become chief executive officer on January 2, 2007. Current Chief Executive Officer Arif Shakeel will remain with the company in an advisory capacity through June 2007. Coyne, currently president and chief operating officer, will retain the title of president when he becomes chief executive. He has joined the board of directors and will stand for re-election at the company’s next annual meeting, along with Shakeel.

The National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) has elected its 2007 officers, members of its executive committee and new members of its board of governors. Arthur M. Coppola, president and CEO of Santa Monica-based The Macerich Company (NYSE: MAC) was elected chair.

Yossef Aelony, MD, FCCP, of Rancho Palos Verdes, is one of 10 national and international recipients of The CHEST Foundation’s Humanitarian Recognition Awards. The $5,000 Humanitarian Awards are given on behalf of medical professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to improve the health of communities and people in need worldwide. Dr. Aelony’s project, Pulmonary Education in Viet Nam, provides medical equipment and training to doctors and nurses in Vietnam. He and his team bring materials, such as bronchoscopes, to the area, demonstrate usage, and then donate the materials to local facilities.

Hartz will oversee internal HBI operations as well as long-term strategic planning and business development. Zima Hartz has over 15 years of experience in health care technology development, project management, and client services with a wide range of health care delivery and services companies.
