A small-volume all-electric sports car based on a platform built by the British automaker Lotus, the two-seater rockets from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. Driving the Roadster feels like riding Disneyland's Matterhorn roller coaster. Unfortunately, the seating also makes you feel like you are squeezed into a roller-coaster car. But if you want an eco-friendly $109,000 sports car, this is the vehicle. It travels about 245 miles on a charge and is eligible for federal and state incentives and carpool lane permits. If you want one, better buy it soon: Tesla, which is based in Palo Alto, has already sold about 1,650 and plans to produce only 2,500.
