Ellen DeGeneres’ Thousand Oaks ranch is back at $11 million

Ellen DeGeneres’ on-again, off-again love affair with her equestrian spread in the Hidden Valley area of Thousand Oaks seemed to be on again in April when Elle Decor featured the ranch retreat. Now the 26 acres are back up for sale at $10.995 million.

DeGeneres and her spouse, Portia de Rossi, bought the rural property in 2009 for $8.5 million and listed it two years later at $16.5 million. The listing was canceled in September after nine months of offering the ranch, with its eight contemporary farmhouse-style cabins, two barns, yoga pavilion, stables and tennis court, at $14.9 million.

The living space includes eight bedrooms, ten full bathrooms and one partial bath.

Just as a celebrity home featured in Architectural Digest is likely to be put on the market almost before the ink is dry, the Elle Decor article read like an avenue for creating interest.

As opposed to a house flipper, DeGeneres is more of a house enthusiast -- buying, fixing and enjoying her homes, then reselling when the mood strikes to move onto the next project.

Grandest pool around? Malibu has it

Shortly after the Elle Decor article, DeGeneres, 55, and De Rossi, 40, bought a 13-acre estate in Santa Barbara County’s Toro Canyon area for $26.5 million. The restored Tuscan-style villa was built in the late 1920s from locally quarried stone. The property, entered through wrought-iron gates, has a quarter-mile-long driveway that winds through olive and eucalyptus trees.

That estate has nine fireplaces, five bedrooms and seven bathrooms in 10,500 square feet of living space. The guest quarters have a bedroom and bathroom. The grounds include a swimming pool.

Suzanne Perkins and Patrick Martin of Sotheby’s have the ranch listing.
