Legislature addresses regulation issues for companies such as Uber
California legislature addressing key issues regarding safety, consumer privacy and deregulation for companies such as Uber:
-- Should drivers be subject to random drug tests?
-- Should Uber and others be required to join a state program that immediately notifies the companies when drivers get in accidents, are ticketed for reckless driving, or are charged with driving drunk?
-- Should the companies be allowed to hold onto and use customer data even after the person has deleted their account?
-- Should a 1935 law requiring commercial license plates apply to Uber, Lyft and Sidecar drivers?
-- Should a 1961 law prohibiting paid carpooling apply to carpool services like UberPool, Lyft Line and Sidecar’s Shared Rides? (The PUC is currently not enforcing this law while it awaits legislative direction.)
