Click on icons and lines, and an informational bubble will pop up. Arrows show the direction of the fire's movement. The red fire perimeter shows the approximate boundaries of the fire. The line is not absolute; some structures inside the perimeter have survived, while some structures outside the boundary may have burned. The source of the red perimeter is GeoMAC, an arm of the U.S. Geological Survey, which compiles geographical information on fires based on photographs of the fire taken by satellite.
