Black Friday: Store and mall opening hours

Stores are gearing up to welcome shoppers Thanksgiving night for the start of Black Friday shopping. (Don Bartletti / Los Angeles Times / November 21, 2012)

Shoppers this year are finding that Black Friday is starting earlier than last year. Many retailers are now opening their doors and rolling out deals Thanksgiving night instead of Friday morning, some as early as 8 p.m. Below is a list of when stores and malls will kick off the shopping extravaganza:

Sears: 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day

Toys R Us: 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day

Wal-Mart: 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day

Target: 9 p.m. Thanksgiving Day

Best Buy: midnight

Kohl's: midnight

Macy's: midnight

JCPenney: 6 a.m. Friday

Radio Shack: 6 a.m. Friday

The Grove: 8 a.m. Friday

Citadel Outlets: 9 p.m Thanksgiving Day

Westfield Culver City: Mall common areas open at 10 p.m. Thanksgiving Day; nearly all stores open at midnight

Camarillo Premium Outlets: midnight; some stores will open at 9 p.m. Thanksgiving Day

Irvine Spectrum: midnight

The Outlets at Orange: midnight

Westfield Santa Anita: midnight

Westfield Topanga: First stores open at midnight, with more to follow early Friday

If you go shopping tonight you're the problem. Do not reward the stores for pulling workers away from their families! This is quite simply outrageous. Stay home with your family! Happy Thanksgiving!

Penny Frazier at 9:29 AM November 22, 2012 As farmer producers who are retailers we have a corundum – will we be seduced into marketing our wares in competition for the almighty consumer gift dollar, or stand strong on our abhorrence to the extreme commercialization of our human celebrations?Does the marketplace mandate that we engage in the discounting frenzy that has become known as Black Friday? Our answer must be honest before anything else. Our answer is both yes and no.We cannot deny that Black Friday is a part of the commercial landscape. Rather than bow down to the frenzy we are seizing it as an opportunity to remind people that there is a choice to purchase with purpose. Buy local Saturday is a strong reminder that we are an interdependent economic community, and that your dollar is a form of power to support purpose locally or globally. To anti - black friday we didno “specials or sales” – simply the suggestion that there be purpose to purchasing in our messaging.
