Miracle Whip anthem asks: Can’t we all just get along?

Share

Believe it or not, there are some people who view Miracle Whip as a bad-for-you, not-even-close-to-natural food product that’s best avoided at all costs.

So the celebrity world (or a small corner of same) has banded together to fight this prejudice.

The likes of the Village People, Tiffany and Lance Bass have answered Kraft’s call to create a “We Are the World”-style anthem for Miracle Whip. And the results are, well, creamy.

As the song says: “In this world there’s lots of turkey, but also a lot of fear. People making up their minds, before the facts are clear. And when it’s time to make a sandwich, ugly judgment rears its head. If it’s tangy, creamy, different, chances are it won’t get spread.”

Can’t we all just get along?

The video, which is racing up the YouTube charts, is part of Kraft’s surprisingly silly (in a good way) “Keep an open mouth” campaign to lure the uninitiated into giving Miracle Whip a try.

It works not just because the world really didn’t need a kumbaya moment for Miracle Whip, but because of the pseudo-sincerity mustered by the performers. When a tear rolls down Bass’ cheek, who doesn’t feel that this oft-maligned sandwich spread hasn’t gotten a break from health-conscious consumers?

Besides, any time the worlds of country (Wynonna) and disco (the Village People) can come together for a cause, it’s reason to celebrate.
