Car Land’s best-reviewed ride -- Radiator Springs Racers -- broke down on opening morning of the newest land at the Disney California Adventure park.

Riders stranded when the ride stopped Friday were escorted away safely, and workers -- appropriately wearing mechanics’ costumes -- walked onto the tracks to inspect.

The ride got going again a little more than an hour after halting. Debbie Heaton, 41, emerged from it, saying it was worth the wait -- “Because it was racing!”

The ride takes park guests through the imagined town of Radiator Springs from the animated move “Cars,” and then finishes on a roller coaster-like racetrack.

During the interruption, die-hard amusement park fan Diego Salazar, 31, said he’d be willing to wait two to three hours for the ride.

“I just want to try it out for myself,” said Salazar, who lives in Los Angeles and owns a premium annual pass.

Salazar stayed in line, but others decided to try different rides.

“Maybe later in the day it’ll get less busy,” said Alex Brooks, 19, who came with a friend to Cars Land on their break from college in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. “We have another day at Disney, so we might come back.”
